Safeguarding APS students, staff and community

The mission of safety, security, and emergency is to safeguard APS students, staff, and community. With the support of our partners, including 鶹 County Emergency Management, 鶹 County Police Department, and 鶹 County Fire and Rescue Department, we have developed a comprehensive strategic plan that outlines our commitment to safety, security, and emergency management.

Please report any school safety issues, such as threats, dangerous rumors, drug use, theft, harassment, gang activities, weapons in a facility, and vandalism to a school administrator or school resource officer.

Aaron Queen

Director, SSEM


Aaron Queen has served more than twenty years with?鶹 Police Department, including patrol officer, crime scene agent, community police officer, school resource officer (SRO), detective, master police officer, and most recently, leadership roles in Patrol Operations and Community Engagement Divisions. ?As a school resource officer, he spent 12 years of his law enforcement career assigned to APS schools, and was the girls basketball coach for seven years at Washington-Liberty High School. Sgt. Queen is an 鶹 resident and proud parent of three adults who attended 鶹 Public Schools.?

James Miller

Assistant Director, SSEM


Prior to APS, Jim Miller (a Certified Protection Professional ) was a Senior Security Manager for Amazon Corporate Security and helped grow security programs for HQ2. Between 2011 and 2020, Jim was a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Diplomatic Security. He was trusted and trained to provide a secure environment for the conduct of U.S. diplomacy while protecting people, global property, and information at over a dozen U.S. diplomatic missions around the world. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Jim spent eight?years as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps, including three combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In his free time, Jim spends time with family and training for triathlons.
